Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation. In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ (USCCB).

• Confirmation completes the good work that was begun in baptism and is continually strengthened in receiving the Eucharist.  
• As canon law states, a person to be confirmed should be “properly instructed and adequately disposed”.

Preparation for Confirmation in our AFC is a two-year program in which students fully participate in more specific classes at either the Catholic School (NUACS) or in our Faith Formation program.  Currently, this Sacrament is received and celebrated in spring of their 11th grade year.

Dear Students and Parents,

We pray that you are doing well and have had a blessed and restful summer!  We look forward to beginning year one of Confirmation preparation this year.  

God desires to share His life with us and calls us to go out and share the joy of the Gospel with others. In this great Sacrament, the Holy Spirit will pour His seven-fold gifts upon you and strengthen you in joyfully living out and professing your faith. As part of your preparation, all students and parents are asked to meet with us for a short fifteen-minute interview. This will allow us to get to know you better and ask you a few questions about the Catholic faith and your faith journey (questions are attached to this email). You will also have an opportunity to ask us questions about the faith and Confirmation.
 
Confirmation entry interviews will be held from Monday -Thursday the week of August 14-17, 2023 between the hours of 8:00 am and 7:00 pm at the Cathedral parish office.  Appointments may be scheduled by clicking this Interview Sign up Link, calling Darlene Filzen at 233-0628, or by e-mailing [email protected] .  

Please realize that emergencies come up with priests, therefore the interviewer may be different than who you signed up with.  Thank you for your understanding.

In addition, students, please begin thinking about who you will invite to be your sponsor and mentor throughout your preparation. Consider someone in your life who has encouraged you and been a faithful witness to the Catholic faith. Sponsors must be confirmed, practicing Catholics who are at least 18 years of age. Parents may not be Confirmation sponsors. We will discuss this more at the interview.
At least one parent needs to attend with their child.  Please bring the attached interview form filled out for discussion.  
This entry interview is required and will help us know how to best serve you in the next two years.
